At LNR, we know that our activities can impact the environment, but we're working hard to manage and make improvements.
We've put systems in place, taking into account everything from our employees to our supply chain, to ensure we're providing a reliable and sustainable train service. We've also earned ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 accreditations, and we're aiming to reduce energy, minimise waste and environmental incidents, and decarbonise our operations.
On a bigger scale, we're proud to have fed back over 31,555,911 kWh of electricity into the grid in 2022 using our trains' regenerative braking feature, which is more than 10% of our electric fleet consumption.
On a smaller scale, we're working with the Rail Safety and Standards Board to monitor air quality at some of our stations, as park of a UK-wide initiative to improve air quality.
We’re also helping our staff to engage with sustainability through our colleague champion scheme and e-learning courses, with over 600 staff already completing the 'Environmental Awareness on the Railway' course.
